The Model United Nations (WüMUN) will take place at the University of Würzburg on 8 and 9 May 2026. In this format, young people can get into the role of UN delegates and experience simulated international negotiations.

What happens during international negotiations? What strategies do diplomats use to reach compromises? And who has what it takes to be a real delegate? Young people can find out at the Würzburg Model United Nations (WüMUN). The hands-on format offers students and pupils from the 10th grade onwards the opportunity to become active in simulated international negotiations.
On 8 and 9 May 2026, up to 180 participants will negotiate in six different UN bodies - including the Security Council, the General Assembly and UNESCO. Organised by the Chair of International Relations and European Studies at the University of Würzburg (JMU), WüMUN provides a realistic simulation of international diplomacy. The participants each represent a country assigned to them and work on a draft resolution on globally relevant topics.
Negotiation simulation with practical relevance
Before the event begins, the delegates draw up a position paper in which they set out their country's interests. During the simulation, they use their arguments in negotiations, try to forge alliances and take part in votes. In a final reflection, the processes and challenges of international decision-making are analysed together.
There will also be an awards ceremony on the second day of the event: Awards will be given for the best position paper and the best diplomatic performance, among others. All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
