Tasmanian woman charged with drug trafficking

Members of the Tasmania Police Crime and Intelligence Command and the Australian Federal Police National Anti Gangs Squad have today charged a 48-year-old woman from Southern Tasmania with trafficking in a controlled substance after locating a significant amount of methylamphetamine and cash yesterday.

About 11:30am police intercepted a vehicle on Climie Street, Campania and a quantity of methylamphetamine.

In a subsequent search of a residential address, police found $11,550 cash and more methylamphetamine – in total, 263.5 grams were located.

Police will allege this amount would equate to 2,635 street deals with a value of about $263,500.

The woman is expected to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court this afternoon.
