A 16-year-old boy has been charged following an investigation by officers from Strike Sweetenham into a series of break, enter and steal offences across Sydney.
Strike Force Sweetenham is an ongoing metropolitan region based investigation into aggravated break, enter and steal offences and the theft of high-performance and luxury vehicles. These offences are typically committed by teenagers.
About 3.00am on Tuesday 24 March 2026, five shops on Kleins Road, Northmead, were broken into and an amount of cash was stolen from each premises.
About 4.30am on Saturday 28 March 2026, two young males went to a house at Constitution Road, Constitution Hill, and attempted to enter the premises but were unsuccessful and subsequently left the location.
About 1.50am on Monday 13 April 2026, a number of young males arrived at a house in Suva Crescent, Greenacre, in a stolen Volkswagen Golf sedan. The yuoung males entered the premises; however, no property was taken.
The same group then went to a house on Hillcrest Avenue, Greenacre, where they attempted to enter the premises, but were unsuccessful and left the location.
Later that same morning, the young males travelled to Cuzco Street, South Coogee, again in the stolen Volkswagen Golf sedan. They attended the rear of the residence but were unsuccessful in gaining entry and left the address.
The same group then went to Cross Street, Bronte, where they broke into two houses, though no property was stolen from either address.
Shortly after these incidents, two vehicles – Mercedes SUV and a Toyota RAV4 - were stolen from Wallis Parade, Bondi.
The Toyota RAV4 was recovered later that day on Wallis Parade, Bondi, while the Mercedes SUV was recovered on Sunday 19 April 2026 on Canterbury Road, Roselands. The Volkswagen Golf sedan remains outstanding.
Inquiries by investigiators from Strike Force Sweetenham revealed that all incidents were believed to be linked.
Following inquiries, about 7.30am today (Wednesday 22 April 2026), police executed as search warrant at a house on Rausch Street, Toongabbie, and arrested a 16-year-old boy.
The boy was taken to Blacktown Police Station, where he was charged with 11 counts of aggravated break and enter - commit serious indictable offence, 2 counts of attempt aggravated break and enter - commit serious indictable offence, and enter inclosed lands without lawful excuse.
He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Wednesday 22 April 2026).
Inquiries into the incidents continue and further arrests are expected.
