Teenage girl critical after car and pedestrian crash - Menai

An investigation is underway after a teenage girl was struck by a vehicle in Sydney's south overnight.

About 8.40pm (Saturday 2 May 2021), emergency services were called to the intersection of Old Illawarra Road and New Illawarra Road, Menai, after reports a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

A 14-year-old girl was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

She was taken to St George Hospital, before being transferred to Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick in a critical condition.

The male driver of a van was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
