Teenager Charged After Police Pursuit At Moree

A teenager has faced court following a police pursuit in the state's north on the weekend.

Officers attached to New England Police District were conducting random breath testing in Moree about 6.10am Saturday 20 June 2026, when a sedan failed to stop as directed.

A pursuit was initiated, with the vehicle continuing through several residential streets before it collided with an electricity pole on Anne Street.

No injuries were reported.

The driver – a 14-year-old boy – allegedly fled from the vehicle into a nearby unit complex.

Officers arrested the teen at a nearby residence and took him to Moree Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and breach of bail.

He appeared before a children's court on Saturday 20 June 2026, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before a children's court on Thursday 23 July 2026.
