Four teenagers will face court today charged by South Sydney detectives after two alleged aggravated break and enters in the State's north and west in recent weeks.
About 10.40pm on Monday 20 April 2026, emergency services were called to a unit on Ridge Street, Merewether, following reports of a break and enter.
Upon arrival, officers were told two unknown men allegedly entered the property and threatened the occupant, before stealing a Range Rover SUV and a Chevrolet utility. No injuries were reported.
About 10.25pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026, the Range Rover was located abandoned on Ascot Avenue, Kensington, and towed for forensic inquiries.
About 11.30pm on Thursday 14 May 2026, police were called to a unit on Rawson Avenue, Tamworth, following reports of a break and enter where a Toyota SUV was allegedly stolen.
Following extensive inquiries, about 3.30pm yesterday (Thursday 28 May 2026), investigators attached to South Sydney Police Area Command, with the assistance of the Operational Support Group, attended a unit on Morehead Street, Redfern, and arrested two teenage boys, aged 15 and 17, and two 18-year-old men.
During a subsequent search of the unit, police allegedly located and seized electronic devices and a knife.
The two 18-year-olds were taken to Surry Hills Police Station where they were both charged with
- Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-deprive liberty
- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and
- Police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly.
The pair were refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court – Bail Division 7 today (Friday 29 May 2026).
The two boys, aged 15 and 17, were taken to Mascot Police Station where the 17-year-old was charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there, and two counts of assault police officer.
The 15-year-old was charged with breach of bail and be carried in conveyance.
Both were refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Friday 29 May 2026).
