Tourist has credit card skimmed

Maribyrnong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating after a visiting tourist had their credit card skimmed and subsequently used, Victoria Police say.

The New Zealand woman used her card within the Melbourne CBD.

Her credit card details were then used to create a physical card which was used to purchase an iPhone at a store at Highpoint Shopping Centre about 10.30pm on 31 May.

The offender has then attended two stores on Rosamond Road and attempted to use the card to purchase another phone but the purchase was declined by the bank as they had noticed suspicious activity.

The man that used the card was wearing an Adidas peaked cap and Adidas hooded top.

Investigators have released an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
