Our region's premier sporting precinct plays host to budding junior AFL talent from this weekend, with over 300 students and their families enjoying the 2022 National U15 AFL Championships.
The week-long event is being brought to our region by School Sport Australia, NSW Combined High Schools Sports Association (NSWCHSSA) and AlburyCity.
Boys and girls from all over the country will come together at Lavington Sports Ground to compete in 30 games over five action-packed days of football, with the matches used to select an 'All Australian' team.
AlburyCity is also hosting a number of immersive cultural experiences for students while they're in the region, including visiting the Burraja Cultural and Environmental Discovery Centre, and taking a tour of Albury's Flying Fruit Fly Circus.
They'll also enjoy a Restore and Recover session at our iconic Norieul foreshore after the conclusion of the event.
For family and friends who can't make it to the event, AlburyCity have arranged a Livestream of each of the championship matches on the AlburyCity website.
Footy fans can also come along to the event for FREE, see some amazing junior talent, and soak up the exciting atmosphere.
AlburyCity Mayor Kylie King said she was so proud that the Lavington Sports Ground was chosen to host this special event.
"The junior championships are yet another great opportunity to showcase everything our Lavington Sports Ground has to offer, bringing families from all over the country to our region and injecting $4 million into our local economy," said Mayor King.

School Sport Australia Board Member Peter Smith said "School Sport Australia are thrilled that the beautiful surrounds of Lavington Sports Ground Albury is the backdrop for our return from a two-year layoff to National Championships."
"It is appropriate that Australia's own game of Australian Football Under 15's is the first of our 27 events across 20 sports with over 5000 participants to bounce off across the nation over the next five months," Mr Smith said.
