GENEVA - The UN Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with albinism, Muluka-Anne Miti-Drummond, will visit Pakistan from 3 to 12 June 2026.
Miti-Drummond will engage with federal government officials and local authorities, members of the National Assembly and government departments, officials of relevant specialised institutions, including the National Human Rights Commission, to obtain updates on legislative and policy developments, and review responses to intersecting challenges faced by persons with albinism, particularly in relation to their right to employment, housing, healthcare, education and family life.
Miti-Drummond will visit Islamabad, Karachi, Dadu and Jacobabad districts in the Sindh province as well as Lahore and Sahiwal in the Punjab province. She will meet with civil society representatives, local activists, and interact with persons with albinism as well as engage with albinism-specific organisations.
The Independent Expert will hold a press conference on 12 June 2025 at 11:00hrs at the UN building, Serena Office Complex, in Islamabad (Khayaban-e-Suhrawardy, Sector G-5/1). Access will be limited to journalists.
