Unlicensed driver charged after drink-driving with child in car at Blacktown

A woman has been charged with high-range PCA after allegedly being caught drink-driving with a child in the car in Sydney's west yesterday.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Command officers stopped a Holden Caprice on Flushcombe Road, Blacktown, about 10.45am (Wednesday 19 November 2020), after allegedly detecting the driver speeding.

Officers spoke to the driver, a 28-year-old woman, who was accompanied by a four-year-old boy in a child seat in the back.

The woman was unable to produce a licence and subsequent checks revealed she was allegedly suspended from driving in Queensland two years earlier.

The woman was subjected to a roadside breath test which returned a positive result. She was arrested and taken to Merrylands Police Station, where a subsequent breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.214.

During a search, police allegedly located methamphetamine in the woman's possession.

She was charged with high-range PCA, drive while suspended, and possess prohibited drug.

The woman is due to appear in Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday 2 February 2021.

A child at risk notification has been made.
