U.S., China Discuss 2023 Pentagon Cyber Strategy at Meeting

U.S. defense officials held a hybrid in-person and virtual meeting today with People's Republic of China (PRC) defense officials at the invitation of the Department of Defense to discuss its recently released Cyber Strategy Summary, in accordance with the 2014 U.S.-PRC Memorandum of Understanding on Notification of Major Military Activities Confidence Building Measure Mechanism. Following the briefing, the two sides engaged in substantive discussion on a range of cyber-related topics.

U.S. participants included representatives from the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Staff. PRC participants included representatives from the Defense Attaché Office of the PRC Embassy and the Central Military Commission's Office for International Military Cooperation (OIMC).
