Volunteer Expo Makes Meaningful Connections

Kiama Council

WIRES reps at the Volunteer Expo

The annual Volunteer Expo was a success at Kiama Farmers' Market last Wednesday with 25 local organisations and community groups participating.

A steady flow of community members attended the two-hour event with strong interest across a wide range of volunteer opportunities.

These included community support, emergency services, environment, arts, health, local media, service clubs and sporting groups.

There was plenty of positive feedback from attendees and the participating organisations, with many valuable conversations and connections made on the day.

Some of the organisations use this Expo as their main way of connecting with new volunteers.

Kiama Mayor Cameron McDonald said the Expo provided a great opportunity for residents to learn more about the many ways they can get involved locally.

"Contributing to the Kiama community through volunteering is a lovely way to make a difference," Mayor McDonald said.

"On behalf of Council, I'd like to extend a huge thank you to all the organisations, volunteers and community members who helped make the Expo such a success."
