What to do with your recycling this Christmas - Wollongong

Not only is Christmas the season to be jolly, it's often the time of year when we generate the most recycling.

To make things easier, we're providing residents with free drop-off locations after Christmas for all of your recyclables. We'll be collecting paper, cardboard, hard plastics and glass containers at three different locations across the Wollongong LGA.

"After the presents are unwrapped on Christmas Day, there's often a lot of extra waste that doesn't fit in the yellow bin. To manage this, we're inviting residents to bring their recycling to our drop-off locations," Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.

"Other waste like steel cans, paint, electronics, gas bottles, car batteries, motor oil, fridges and other whitegoods can be dropped off at the Community Recycling Centre as normal."

Depending on weather conditions, the Community Recycling Centre will be open every day, except for Christmas when our staff and volunteers take the day off.

"The other important thing to know is that there will be no bin collection on Christmas Day. Remondis will instead run the usual Friday bin collection on Saturday 26 December," said Cr Bradbery.

"Remember, please be patient as we work to help you over the holiday period. Wait times for bin collection services and at our Community Recycling Centre might be a little longer than usual."
