Work Stay and Play Incentive Launches Today

NT Government

Local hospitality and tourism businesses can now take advantage of the Territory Government's worker attraction incentive, with the Work Stay and Play program launching today.

Due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, industries across Australia such as hospitality and tourism that traditionally rely on seasonal workers, international students and working holiday makers are struggling to find workers.

This new incentive is part of the Territory Government's $2m Critical Worker Support Package to immediately boost skills and job opportunities for Territorians, and attract additional workers to the Territory, or encourage visitors to stay for work.

The Work Stay and Play incentive offers a payment of up to $1500 to reimburse costs associated with moving into a new job.

The one off payment could include airfares, moving household effects, transporting a vehicle or even accommodation and rental assistance.

Employees will be required to complete an average of 20 hours per week over the period for businesses to qualify.

To enable people living in the Territory to quickly skill and move into jobs there will be a range of free short courses available across the Territory.
