In Yarra, we love our unique arts and culture sector.
From fabulous festivals, enthralling exhibitions and popular programs, the arts thrive in our city.
We want to make sure it keeps thriving. That’s why we’ve provided $640,000 in grants over the last year to boost our arts and culture sector. These grants have helped over 50 independent artists and community organisations contribute to our community.
These grants also celebrate the diverse communities that call Yarra home through program, exhibitions and events including:
- We Are Colourful, an African Australian cultural project which uses contemporary dance to engage African young people in Richmond and Fitzroy
- All the Queen’s Men, a dynamic body of work supporting the health and wellbeing of older Victorian communities, specifically older LGBTIQ+ people
- Johnston Street Fiesta, a vibrant street festival celebrating the heritage, tradition, music and food of the world’s many Spanish-speaking countries.
We’re reviewing our grants program to ensure our grants continue to be accessible and meet the needs of our diverse communities and delivers benefits to the wider Yarra community.
We want to hear from everyone. If you’re an independent artist or community group, whether you’ve applied for a grant or not, we’d like to know how you think we could improve our grants program.
We’d also like feedback from the wider community on how they think the grants program is supporting our arts and culture sector.
Your insights and suggestions will help us identify ways to improve the grants application process and find opportunities to improve the Arts and Culture grants program. We also want to make sure they continue to support the creative and social impact these exhibitions, events or programs can provide the wider Yarra community.
The review closes 12 midday Monday 22 August so make sure you share your feedback before then.
