Yarra Offers New Spaces To Beat Heat This Summer

During a designated heatwave, if you or someone you know needs an air-conditioned place to rest, you can visit:

Richmond Library

415 Church Street, Richmond

Open 10am–10pm Monday to Saturday, 10am–6pm on Sundays, including public holidays.

Bargoonga Nganjin, North Fitzroy Library

182 St Georges Road, Fitzroy North

Open 10am–10pm Monday to Sunday, including public holidays.

The following leisure centres will also offer a free Cool Space during their regular opening hours. Please check their websites for any changes during public holidays:

Collingwood Leisure Centre

2-28 Turnbull Street, Clifton Hill

Richmond Recreation Centre

11-15 Gleadell Street, Richmond

Please note that free access at leisure centres applies only to the designated air-conditioned Cool Space rooms and does not include entry to pools or gym areas.

From 1 December through to 31 March, Cool Spaces will operate during severe and extreme heatwaves, as defined and declared by the Bureau of Meteorology, provided there is sufficient warning. 

To stay cool, consider heading to a Cool Space early in the morning and avoid travelling during the hottest part of the day.
