Young people across the municipality with an interest or passion in the arts have an opportunity to showcase their talents to a broader audience through Mildura Rural City Council’s Youth Engagement Services 2021 FReeZA Youth Art Prize.

Entries are now open for the competition, which is open to all secondary school children in four categories – drawing, painting, photography and graphic design.

Councillor for Community Health and Wellbeing Cyndi Power said the competition was a great way for young people to explore the arts.

“This is a unique opportunity for young people to share their works of art with potentially thousands of people across our region,” Cr Power said.

“Importantly, the Youth Art Prize is also a fun way for young people who may have a talent or interest in the arts to challenge themselves by creating a piece of artwork which will be judged and shared with a new audience.”

To enter visit mildura.vic.gov.au/youthartprize and complete the entry form. As part of the entry process artists need to upload a photo of their work, as well as a photo of themselves with their artwork.

Entries are open until Tuesday 25 May. Judging will take place on Friday 4 June ahead of prize-winners being announced on Friday 11 June.

All artwork will be shared via Youth Engagement Services’ Facebook and Instagram accounts throughout the entry period, providing a chance for as many people as possible to appreciate each entry.

There will be a $100 prize on offer for each category in each year level.
