Young people across the Griffith Local Government Area are invited to kick back, relax and enjoy a fun night at the movies as part of Youth Week 2026 celebrations.
Council's Cinema & Social Movie Night will be held during the second week of the school holidays, offering a free, fun and welcoming space for local youth to connect.
The 2026 NSW Youth Week theme is "Dream. Dare. Do.". Running from 16-26 April, this theme encourages young people aged 12 to 24 to imagine big, take courageous steps, and turn their aspirations into reality.
The Cinema & Social Movie Night will take place on Thursday 16 April 2026 from 6.30pm at Griffith Regional Sports Centre. Attendees are encouraged to bring along pillows, beanbags and blankets to create their own comfortable cinema setup, with mini games also available throughout the evening.
Council's Youth Advisor Tithi Patel said the event was all about creating a safe and enjoyable space for young people to socialise and unwind.
"Youth Week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate young people and give them something fun and inclusive to look forward to," Ms Patel said.
"The Cinema & Social Movie Night is designed to be relaxed and welcoming, whether you come with friends or meet new people on the night."
Ms Patel said young people also had the chance to help shape the event.
"We're inviting everyone to vote for the movie they'd like to see, so it really is an event created by young people, for young people," she said.
Vote for your preferred movie by completing the online survey by 1 April 2026: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SV3F8K6
A snack and water will be provided on the night, with the Griffith Regional Sports Centre canteen also open. Please note alcohol is prohibited at the event.
