Our latest report showcasing some of our achievements during the past 12 months is now available online.
The theme of our 2020 Impact Report, Destination Discovery, builds on our 95-year history of pioneering advances and focuses on where we are headed as we look to our centenary in 2026.
A big thank you to those staff who feature in this report including Dr Arpeeta Sharma, Dr Erin Howden, Professor Karlheinz Peter, Professor Jonathan Shaw, Mr Tom Collins, Dr Satvika Burugupalli, Professor Peter Meikle, Professor Judy de Haan and Dr Kevin Huynh. They appear alongside several of our trial participants, donors and families who have generously shared their stories — like Steve and Jo Gibbs who lost their only son, Matt, to sudden cardiac arrest and want to bring greater awareness to this important issue.
We are also very grateful to families like that of Genevieve Peterson who want to help us advance new ways of measuring genetic risk of disease, 'Peter' Phuoc Bui-Quang who has heart disease and diabetes and is participating in clinical trials at our new research facility in Melbourne's outer west, and supporters like Berry and Anne King who are nurturing young thinkers of tomorrow through our Bright Sparks program.
We also share how we are using our unique expertise to look at the impact COVID-19 lockdowns had on people with diabetes, and studying the long-term impact of this virus on the heart.
