State Cabinet records have been opened to the public after 30 years, to reveal the official decisions that shaped Western Australia. The 1992 State Cabinet records are held by the State Records Office, the authority responsible for identifying, managing, preserving, and providing the community with an information service about the State's archives.

The 1992 State Cabinet papers have been digitised, and a new Guide to the 1992 State Cabinet Records describes the papers, key issues, and historical context for decisions at the time.

The Guide and papers can be accessed online at: https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/state-records-office-of-western-australia

Original documents can also be viewed by appointment at the Battye Library of West Australian History, in the State Library and State Archives, Perth Cultural Centre.

Research support appointments can be booked online at: https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/state-records-office-of-western-australia/new-research-support-service

As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:

"It is important to preserve and learn from WA's past, and the State archives are an important source of information about the history of our State.

"I would encourage all Western Australians with an interest in the State's history to explore the services offered by the State Records Office, online or in person."
