AI Safety Summit Sees Participation from Secretary General

Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić participated in the Artificial Intelligence Safety Summit (AISS) in Bletchley Park.

The Secretary General highlighted the relevance of the Council of Europe draft framework convention on Artificial Intelligence (AI), as a potentially global treaty upholding standards in human rights, democracy, and the rule of law. She stressed the importance of harnessing the benefits of AI while mitigating its risks.

She underlined how the Organisation works with member and non member states, as well as with civil society and private sector organizations around the world to overcome cross-border challenges and prevent discrimination.

Marija Pejčinović Burić empahised the dangers coming from the use of deepfakes in political campaigns as a manipulation and disinformation tool.
