From next week, 56 new police officers will report for duty to help fight crime and protect the community.
This evening, Police Minister Paul Papalia will welcome the Force's latest graduating officers at a march out parade in front of family and friends at the Joondalup Police Academy.
The graduating police squads include officers who were born in Bosnia, Mexico, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Pakistan, Brazil, Canada, Scotland, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
With an average age of 28 years, they include a landscaper, wildlife attendant, forklift operator, aircraft engineer, trampoline coach, and a range of other occupations in the retail, hospitality, defence and resources industries.
Hundreds of new police officers have joined the Force since the McGowan Government took office.
The biggest boost to police numbers in the State's history has already delivered 570 of the 950 additional officers committed to in October 2020.
Significantly, every regional police district has seen an increase in police FTE, with now more than 160 extra police officers allocated to regional Western Australia compared to 2016, when the Liberal-Nationals were in office.
There are also now more police auxiliary officers working at regional police stations, freeing up sworn officers from other duties and putting them back on the frontline.
The newly graduated officers will be deployed throughout metropolitan and regional WA as required by the Police Commissioner.
As stated by Police Minister Paul Papalia:
"Police numbers continue to grow across the State thanks to our unprecedented investment in the expansion of the WA Police Force.
"There are more sworn police officers in regional WA since the McGowan Labor Government took office.
"It's part of our commitment to ensure the Commissioner has the resources he needs to deploy to help keep the community safe."
