Arrerst - Assault in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 19 year-old male following multiple assaults on security staff at a Darwin Shopping Centre this afternoon.

Just before 1pm NT Police responded to reports that three males and one female were creating a disturbance in the shopping centre food court.

When the group were approached by security staff it is alleged one of the offenders threatened a guard with an edged weapon.

Another security guard allegedly had another edged weapon thrown at him and another was assaulted with a chair.

The offenders then assaulted another guard at a liquor store before stealing alcohol.

None of the victims' physical injuries required treatment.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Day said "the offenders are no longer a danger to the public at the shopping centre."

"One arrest has been made and if anyone has any information about the incident I urge them to call police on 131 444 and quote number 10490240."
