Detectives from the Sex Assault Squad have charged a 30-year-old man after an alleged serious incident on Thursday morning, 23 June 2022.
It will be alleged between 4.15am and 5am, the man forced entry into a residential unit in Yokine where he assaulted a 24-year-old woman, holding her down by applying pressure to her neck and attempted to sexually assault her. When the man let go the woman screamed, alerting another occupant of the home and causing the man to flee.
It will be further alleged a short time later the man forced entry into the home a second time, in an attempt to recover a mobile phone that was left at the address.
As a result of police inquiries, the man was arrested in Swan View just after 11am on Thursday morning.
The 30-year-old man from Victoria Park has been charged with:-
• Impeded Another Person's Normal Breathing or Blood Circulation by Applying Pressure to Neck;
• Attempted Sexual Penetration without Consent;
• Aggravated Home Burglary and Commit; and
• Criminal Damage or Destruction of Property.
He is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, Friday 24 June 2022.
