Aussie Ag continues to lead our economic recovery

Today's national account figures are further proof that the Australian Agricultural industry is leading the way in our economic recovery.

The Minister for Agriculture and Northern Australia, David Littleproud said agriculture has stepped up, persevered and provided stability through uncertain times.

"The value of rural goods exported in the September quarter was a staggering 64 per cent greater than the previous September quarter," Minister Littleproud said.

"The total value add of the agricultural industry in the quarter was up a remarkable 44 per cent on the year before.

"That is to a four and a half year high, and a near record for agriculture.

"The news comes a day after the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) forecast Australia's winter crop, for this year, to reach a new record winter of 58.4 million tonnes.

"Farmers had drought, bushfires and COVID to deal with in recent years but they quietly went about their work, producing the food and fibre for Australia and the world.

"Even now our farmers are facing the challenge of floods in parts of eastern Australia. They can be assured that we will standby them now so they can prosper in the future.

"Agriculture production is forecast in 2021-22 to be over $70 billion for the first time in our nation's history

"The Federal Government will continue to provide the framework for the agriculture industry to help them reach their goal of $100 million by 2030."
