Aussies encouraged to #MakeYourMove

Sport Australia congratulates the Australian Sporting Alliance for People with a Disability (ASAPD) on launching its social media presence and movement #MakeYourMove as the Tokyo Paralympic Games gets underway.

The Alliance brings together Australia's nine National Sporting Organisations for People with a Disability (NSODs), who share a common purpose to improve the lives of Australians living with a disability using sport as the medium.

"The Alliance is thrilled to be enhancing its digital profile in the hope that we will encourage more Australians with a disability to become more physically active and increase accessibility through our vast network of supporting organisations and stakeholders," Alliance Chair and CEO of Sport Inclusion Australia Robyn Smith said.

ASAPD's John Croll said #MakeYourMove aims to inspire all Australians to start, or increase, their involvement in physical activity, and in turn, build a more disability-inclusive Australia.

Sport Australia Acting CEO Rob Dalton said Sport Australia was proud to support the Alliance and congratulated ASAPD on the #MakeYourMove initiative.

"All Australians should have an opportunity to engage in sport and physical activity in a welcoming and inclusive environment and with the Paralympic Games underway, there is no better time to launch this movement. We can't wait to see our Paralympians compete on the world stage."
