The Pet Insurance Australia Companion Animal Rescue Awards has just announced the Ballarat Animal Shelter as a finalist in the category of ‘Outstanding Council Animal Shelter’.
The Rescue Awards shines the light on rescue groups, animal shelters, and companion animal welfare organisations who continue to save thousands of animal lives during these challenging times of the COVID-19 era.
The Rescue Awards is Australia’s first and only national awards program that celebrates and recognises achievements in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of companion animals.
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney said this is a fantastic acknowledgement for the hard work of everyone involved with the Ballarat Animal Shelter.
“The past year has been challenging for our animal management team,” he said.
“We have had over 800 dogs and over 100 cats that have been reclaimed, we have adopted out over 250 dogs and over 700 cats as well as given shelter and care to many others in need.”
“From the veterinary care to our dedicated staff, through to the students, volunteers and public that so generously donate, it is a massive team effort.”
The Rescue Awards is a for-purpose program managed by Pets4Life, an independent education resource for cat and dog guardians and those thinking of getting a pet.
“This year, the Finalists have demonstrated not only excellence but also resilience and their ability to innovate in these difficult times to rescue and re-home pets,” Rescue Awards founder and rescue advocate from Pets4Life, Cathy Beer said.
In its fourth year, the Rescue Awards attracted many and diverse entries from around the country across 10 categories. For more about the finalists visit https://rescueawards.com.au/
