BeiDou and High-resolution Remote Sensing Integrated to Empower Regional Economy

Chinese Academy of Sciences

A national key R&D program, which involves China's BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) as well as High-resolution Earth Observation System, is launched to empower Shandong's socio-economic development, according to the Aerospace Information Research Institute (AIR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

The program is designed to conduct demonstrative applications of aerospace information for such fields as precision agriculture, marine ranching, and ecological conservation in east China's Shandong Province.

Backed by the program, a comprehensive service platform which integrates BDS and High-resolution Earth observation satellite system will be built to facilitate the land-sea applications in this province.

The research focus lies in the fusion of precision positioning technology of BDS and the high spatial resolution remote sensing data. A batch of automatic equipment and aerospace information application systems will be developed to serve the scenes such as unmanned farms, precision agriculture, marine ranching, and ecological environment monitoring.

The program is led by AIR, in collaboration with other nine domestic research institutes.
