Body found in search for missing swimmer at Windsor

A body, believed to be that of a teenage boy who disappeared whilst swimming in the Hawkesbury River, has been located.

About 12pm today (Wednesday 14 December 2022), emergency services were called to the Hawkesbury River at Windsor following reports of a missing swimmer.

On arrival, officers attached to the Hawkesbury Police Area Command were told a 16-year-old boy, who had been swimming in the river, was unable to be located.

A search of the river commenced, with assistance from specialist police including PolAir, police divers, as well as NSW SES, and the Toll NSW Ambulance Aeromedical service.

Following an extensive search, a body was located about 4.20pm today.

The body is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be that of the missing boy.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
