BRISBANE OFFICE OCCUPANCY RECORDS HIGHEST JUMP ACROSS AUSTRALIA

Brisbane's office occupancy levels have surged forward in September, recording the highest monthly jump of any capital city in Australia, according to the latest data from the Property Council of Australia.

The Property Council's latest Office Occupancy Survey revealed Brisbane's office occupancy had risen from 57 per cent in August to 70 per cent in September.

Queensland Executive Director of the Property Council, Jen Williams, said the rise in occupancy was welcome news.

"This is the fantastic outcome that businesses in the city have been looking for and is testament to the hard work of so many stakeholders," Ms Williams said.

"We're seeing a huge increase in activity across the week. The gap is closing between peak and low days, with occupancy jumping by 16 per cent on the normally quiet Friday, much to the benefit of the city's small businesses."

Brisbane's office occupancy is sitting at its highest level since June 2021 with Ms Williams pointing out that this swell in attendance shows promising signs for the warmer months.

"Things are noticeably busier in the city after experiencing dips earlier this year with new COVID waves and the seasonal flu," Ms Williams said.

"Hybrid working arrangements are continuing to play a part in our workplace culture, however this rise shows that people are increasingly seeking out connection and collaboration.

"We are positive this momentum will continue as the weather improves and this will hopefully translate to a bumper festive season for city centre retailers after a challenging few years."

The survey was conducted in the field between 26 and 30 September 2022.
