Alarms were raised by a member of the public after he noticed suspicious activity at a Drury construction site late last night.
The informant contacted Police just before 10.30pm after spotting a suspicious looking vehicle parked outside the Fielding Road site.
A short time later the Police Eagle helicopter was overhead and spotted a man with a backpack attempting to hide behind a dirt pile.
"Eagle was able to maintain observations on the person until a unit arrived," Counties Manukau South Area Response Manager, Senior Sergeant Kushla Clarke says.
"One person was quickly taken into custody and a bag with a number of tools was also seized," she says.
"This is a great example of exceptional Police work where we located and apprehended the person in a timely manner, and they will now be held to account for their actions.
"We simply won't tolerate behaviour like this in our communities."
Senior Sergeant Clarke says Police would also like to acknowledge the community for their vigilance and reporting suspicious activity promptly to Police.
A 30-year-old man will appear in Papakura District Court today charged with burglary and possession of instruments for burglary.
