NT Government

The highly popular myDarwin voucher scheme is back!

The 2022 round opens today, encouraging Darwin locals to support local businesses and help drive the Territory's economy.

The Territory Government has kicked in $400,000 and the City of Darwin an additional $200,000 for a total funding pool of $600,000.

Territorians and tourists can register for the buy local discount program and redeem vouchers via their mobile devices to spend at participating businesses, including retail and hospitality.

Every registered user will receive $40 worth of myDarwin discount vouchers upon registration and these are replenished every 48 hours until all the program funds are redeemed.

The City of Darwin's myDarwin program was the first of its kind in Australia and was created by Council and built by Territory businesses.

The Territory Government is offering a total funding pool worth $1.3 million to local governments to take part in the scheme to boost regional economies.

The 2020/21 funding round extended the discount voucher program to an additional 5 councils and generated over $12 million of economic benefit for local business.

More than 350 local Darwin businesses have signed up for this round of the the myDarwin scheme, and the Territory Labor Government wants to see other NT businesses jump on board and benefit from this program.

Quotes from Minister for Small Business, Paul Kirby:

"We know these vouchers are a big hit with shoppers, but they've also proved to be a driving force in sales for local businesses.

"These vouchers support food, retail, hospitality and tourism businesses operating a shopfront in the Darwin municipality.

"Once again, we're calling on Territorians to register and buy from a store with a door, to keep supporting local and keep our economy ticking over.

Quotes from Lord Mayor of Darwin, Kon Vatskalis

"Over the last couple of months, I have been hearing that a combination of factors have been making things tough for local business.

"So, we want to do what we can to help them through this lean patch, because I believe Darwin is on the edge of a period of exciting growth.

"I am hopeful that with border restrictions removed and the onset of the Dry, local business is going to become very busy again."
