Armed robbery, Earlville
A 40-year-old man was arrested following an incident at a Balaclava Road business yesterday afternoon, 7 May.
Just after 12pm, it will be alleged the man entered the store and threatened a staff member with a knife, demanding money and cigarettes.
Officers intercepted the man a short time later near the location and he was taken into custody, allegedly with a quantity of cash and several packets of cigarettes in his possession.
The man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, obstruct police and assault.
He has been refused bail and will appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court today, 8 May.

Robbery, Westcourt
A 31-year-old woman was arrested after being located at a Saint George Close address last night, 7 May.
It will be alleged she was involved with an incident on 5 May during which a 26-year-old man was assaulted and had his vehicle stolen.
The 26-year-old victim required surgery for fractures sustained during the assault.
The woman has been charged with one count each of robbery in company with violence, unlawful use of motor vehicle and unlicensed driving.
She has been denied bail and will appear before the Cairns Magistrates Court today, 8 May.
Investigations into others involved in the incident are ongoing.

Multiple charges, Cairns
A 16-year-old boy has been taken into custody after being located at a Meranti Close address yesterday morning, 7 May.
It will be alleged the boy had been involved with break and enter and vehicle offences dating back to February 2024.
The boy has been charged with a total of 28 offences including two counts of enter premises and one of unlawful use of motor vehicle.
He has been denied bail and will appear before the Cairns Childrens Court today, 8 May.
