FedDev Ontario investment of $2.5 million for BECC Modular to manufacture up to 2,200 modular structures per year and create 35 jobs

Strengthening the economy and making life more affordable for Canadians are the top priorities for the Government of Canada. That is why the Government of Canada is investing in local manufacturers that are making it easier for Canadians and their families to find an affordable place to call home and create good jobs to grow our economy.

Today, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), along with Chad Collins, Member of Parliament for Hamilton East-Stoney Creek; and Lisa Hepfner, Member of Parliament for Hamilton Mountain, announced a $2.5-million investment towards the growth of BECC Modular, a manufacturing company providing turn-key modular homes for affordable housing projects and commercial properties.

BECC Modular is coming up with innovative and affordable solutions to increase Canadian housing inventory. Through this investment, BECC will adopt more efficient steel frame manufacturing capabilities for modular home construction. As a result, the company is expected to produce up to 2,200 modular structures per year for single and multi-story buildings across Canada and abroad. In addition, this project will create 35 new, skilled jobs in the Hamilton region. This is one of the many ways the Government of Canada is working to increase the supply of attainable homes.

The Government of Canada is building a strong manufacturing sector and setting the groundwork in communities across southern Ontario to make life more affordable. Together, we are creating a strong economy that works for everyone.
