Young people on the Mornington Peninsula will soon have access to free, professional career counselling, with a new monthly service launching this August at the Tounnin Wominjeka Youth Hub in Rosebud.

The Shire has partnered with Chisholm Institute to provide tailored career support to young people aged 15 to 25 years, helping them to explore pathways into education, training and employment.

The service will operate on the first Thursday of each month at the Tounnin Wominjeka Youth Hub, 80 Besgrove St, Rosebud. Appointments will be available in one-hour sessions from 10am - 4pm.

Delivered by the Chisholm Skills and Job Centre, the service is staffed by qualified career professionals and is free to access. All staff hold current Police and Working with Children checks, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for young people seeking career guidance.

Mayor Stephen Batty said the new partnership will help local young people make informed decisions about their future education, training and career pathways.

"Choosing a career path can feel overwhelming for many young people. This free service will connect them with expert advice and practical support to help them explore their options and plan for the future.

"Whether they are considering further study, training or employment, this service will help local young people build confidence and take the next step towards their career goals," he said.

The Chisholm Skills and Job Centre offers practical, personalised support to help young people take their first and next steps on their career pathway. Services include career counselling, job search assistance, resume and application support, and advice on study and training options, including Free TAFE priority courses.

Young people can also access guidance on apprenticeships and traineeships, referrals to local job opportunities and support to develop career and training plans. In addition, the service connects participants with broader support networks, including welfare services, financial advice and local, statewide and national organisations that can assist with their individual needs.

The new service will make career guidance more accessible across the Southern Peninsula, helping young people build confidence, develop skills and take positive steps towards education, training and employment.
