CBD buzzing in Swan Hill

Swan Hill Rural City Council has welcomed a boom in visitors to the municipality during the school holiday period.

Council CEO John McLinden said with recent easing of COVID-19 restrictions it had been great to see more people out and about, shopping within the Swan Hill CBD.

"It's great to see shops, cafes and restaurants reopening and people out and about again.

"We have been delighted to welcome visitors from Regional Victoria to our municipality and showcase the wonderful things our region has to offer, once again.

Mr McLinden said that with the additional traffic in the Swan Hill CBD it was an important time to remind the community to follow Councils parking time limits and restrictions.

"We are currently offering free car parking, but people must still be aware that parking time limits and restrictions apply.

"This includes time limits on parking, as well as loading and disabled parking bays," he said.

Swan Hill Incorporated Chair, Murray Ray said it was wonderful to finally see shops impacted by the pandemic reopen to the community.

"Our local traders have been hit hard and it's great to see the doors reopening.

"Parking turnover is vital for shop owners to ensure their customers can easily visit local businesses and access the services they need," Mr Ray said.

Mr McLinden stressed that parking time limits would be enforced.

"People not following parking signage and time limits make it difficult for our local traders," he said.

Parking Meters are expected to be reactivated towards the end of this month.
