The City of Ballarat has welcomed Thursday's promise from the Liberal Party that it will commit $16 million toward a Materials Recovery Facility at a new regional Circular Economy Precinct, if it wins government at the 26 November Victorian state election.
City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Des Hudson said the $16 million promise would deliver environmental and economic benefits and reduce the costs associated with landfill.
The Materials Recovery Facility, as part of a Circular Economy Precinct at the Ballarat West Employment Zone, is Tier 1 priority project - a transformational project of regional significance - for the City of Ballarat and sits within the Ripon Electorate.
Cr Hudson said he hoped to see the funding promise for a Materials Recovery Facility matched by all sides of politics.
The promise was made via media announcement and release by Louise Staley MP, Liberal candidate for Ripon, and Samantha McIntosh, the Liberal candidate for Wendouree at the November 26 state election.
