CLP Driving Economic Growth Through Digital Reform

NT Government

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is reducing red tape and rebuilding the economy through smarter digital property services for Territorians.

More than 3,500 property documents have now been lodged online through eConveyancing, making property transactions faster, simpler, and more secure.

Land transactions that would usually take days can now be done in minutes.

The Finocchiaro CLP Government is delivering smarter digital services to drive economic growth, confidence, and future land releases with more than 3000 property documents now lodged online through eConveyancing.

As of June 2026, 200 subscribers are now registered to use the system, and 3,513 documents have been successfully lodged via eConveyancing to the Land Titles Office.

The next phase of eConveyancing will be launched later this year, bringing residential property and land transfer transactions online, further streamlining the process by allowing additional documents to be lodged electronically when required with 24/7 access.

Moving residential property conveyances online later this year will significantly improve efficiency for property buyers, sellers, conveyancers and lawyers in the Territory.

Minister for Corporate and Digital Development Joshua Burgoyne said the strong uptake was a positive sign for the NT's conveyancing industry as it transitions into a more digital future.

"eConveyancing builds on our Government's continued work to unlock growth across the NT by enabling faster, simpler and more secure property transactions for Territorians," he said.

"By modernising the Territory's conveyancing system, we are making it easier to invest and do business in the NT, providing greater confidence and certainty for property owners, and driving long-term economic growth."

The latest stage of the eConveyancing rollout, Phase 2, was launched in February and modernises land title transactions by enabling caveat and withdrawal of caveat documents to be lodged online through the Property Exchange Australia (PEXA) platform.

This builds on the success of Phase 1, launched in August 2025, which introduced 'digital mortgage' and 'discharge of mortgage' documents.

Attorney-General Marie-Clare Boothby said eConveyancing was all about making things easier for Territorians to access the services they need.

"eConveyancing streamlines processes which can often be really complex and clunky," the Attorney-General said.

"It also supports those industries who sit at the coalface of those industries which drive our economic growth, including housing and construction."

"In our year of growth, certainty, and security, we are working hard to ease the red-tape burden on Territorians and small businesses, as we make the Territory the best place to do business."

The eConveyancing project is expected for completion mid-2027.
