The Code Yellow at Royal Darwin Hospital and Palmerston Regional Hospital has now been lifted.
The Code Yellow was issued due to pressures in the Intensive Care Unit, Critical Care Unit and Emergency Department (ED), resulting in extended wait times in the ED.
Due to a number of measures being implemented, including redeploying staff and rescheduling some elective surgeries, demand pressures have eased and patient flow at the hospitals has improved.
While the Code Yellow has been lifted, elective surgery will operate as usual from Wednesday morning.
We thank the community for their patience and kindness during this time.
We would also like to thank our NT Health people for their resilience, persistence and dedication for coming to work each day, particularly when conditions are challenging.
If you are experiencing a health emergency, call Triple Zero (000) and ask for an ambulance.
