Comanchero OMCG associate charged after a firearm and MDMA located in vehicle, NSW

Two men, including an associate of the Comanchero outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG), have been charged after a sawn-off shotgun and MDMA were seized as part of an ongoing investigation into drug supply.

In June 2018, detectives from the State Crime Command's Criminal Groups Squad established Strike Force Coronata to investigate the supply of illicit drugs across Sydney.

As part of their inquiries, strike force detectives, assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit, arrested a 36-year-old man during a vehicle stop on Wentworth Avenue, Clyde, about 2.30pm on Saturday (19 January 2019).

A short time later, a second man – aged 54 – was arrested at a nearby home.

During a search of the younger man's vehicle, investigators located and seized a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition, and a powder, which is believed to be 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA).

Both men were subsequently taken to Granville Police Station.

The 36-year-old Turella man, who is an associate of the Comanchero OMCG, was charged with possess shortened firearm, possess ammunition without authority, supply prohibited drug, and robbery.

The 54-year-old Clyde man was charged with supply shortened firearm (not pistol) to other and holder of Category A or B licence not have approved storage.

Police will allege in court that the older man supplied the firearm to the younger man without authority.

Both men were refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court on Sunday (20 January 2019), where they were formally refused bail to re-appear at Central Local Court today (Tuesday 22 January 2019).

Investigations under Strike Force Coronata continue.
