Community to guide Orchard Hills plans

The NSW Government has appointed Professor Roberta Ryan as the Independent Community Commissioner to guide the future planning of Orchard Hills.

Minister for Planning and Minister for Homes Anthony Roberts said the Government wanted the community to be front and centre in planning for the area.

"Comprehensive studies will inform the future development of Orchid Hills and infrastructure required by the current community, as well as those who will call the area home in future," Mr Roberts said.

"This work will help to inform a discussion paper that the Government will release later this year for community input, ahead of a draft Precinct Plan for formal exhibition next year."

Professor Ryan is currently the Independent Community Commissioner for the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

"My role in Orchard Hills will be to help the community understand the planning process and what any proposed changes may mean. I will also help to raise any issues and concerns with the Government during the process," she said.

"As a first step, I will write to the Orchard Hills community to ask for their assistance by completing a short survey that will help me to provide the best support possible during the planning process. The survey will also help the Government to understand more about the community's views on the future development of Orchard Hills."

Mr Roberts said the Orchard Hills precinct capitalised on the Commonwealth and NSW Government's $11 billion investment in the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport line.

Information about Professor Ryan and a link to the survey can be found on the Independent Community Commissioner web page.
