The Snowy Monaro community is invited to have their say on Council's Draft Community Engagement Strategy, open now for feedback on our Your Say website until Thursday 24 November 2022. This is a 28-day consultation period.

Under the Local Government Act, Council is required to create and use a Community Engagement Strategy based on social justice principles for engagement with the local community.

The Community Engagement Strategy must identify relevant stakeholder groups within the community and outline methods of engaging with each group. Due consideration must also be given to the expected levels of service expressed by the community during this consultation period.

This Strategy sets out how Council will engage with all stakeholders: community members and groups, local and regional businesses, as well as state agencies and non-government organisations.

Proper engagement with every part of our community is essential to creating plans and doing work that meets the aspirations and needs of the people we serve.

This Strategy will also be used during the development of the Community Strategic Plan and Council's other planning activities.

The Draft Community Engagement Strategy 2022–2026 has been prepared by Council's Communications Team internally. This process included a Councillor briefing in early October. Now that the draft has been endorsed by Council with their first round of amendments, community members are invited to provide feedback.

Following this consultation, community feedback and other required amendments will be presented to Councillors for their review and final approval.

Have your say today: feedback closes 11.59pm Thursday 24 November 2022.
