- Daily services between Tokyo and Perth return in October for a second year
- Additional direct flights to add more than 20,600 inbound seats into WA
- Aviation is a key part of the Cook Labor Government's priority to diversify the WA economy, creating jobs for Western Australians
All Nippon Airways (ANA) have announced it will once again increase direct flights between Tokyo and Perth from three times a week to daily operations from 25 October 2026.
Following the success of last year's seasonal increase to a daily service, the uplift to the ANA direct route will deliver more than 20,600 additional inbound seats to Western Australia.
The daily flight will run until 27 March 2027 and services the growing number of visitors from Japan travelling to Western Australia.
Supported by the Cook Labor Government, ANA's direct Tokyo to Perth service resumed in October 2023 as a six-month seasonal route operating three times a week.
Following its success, the seasonal service returned in October 2024 and was subsequently uplifted to a year-round operation, maintaining three weekly flights.
Last year, ANA increased the service to daily flights between December 2025 and April 2026 for the first time, delivering additional capacity during the peak travel period.
Japan is a priority international visitor market for WA, with 33,000 travellers from Japan spending a total of $111 million across the state in the year ending March 2026.
The route is one of 22 non-stop flights facilitating travel to Western Australia from key global destinations, connecting the state with the world and boosting tourism, business and investment opportunities.
The return of the additional daily flights is part of the Cook Labor Government's vision to diversify the economy by growing out-of-state visitation and boost the tourism sector by generating valuable dollars for the visitor economy.

As stated by Premier and Tourism, Trade and Investment Minister Roger Cook:
"Japan is an important international visitor market for Western Australia, and I am delighted that more visitors from Japan will be able to travel to Western Australia over the coming months with a second season of daily direct flights from Tokyo to Perth.
"This additional capacity reflects the growing demand for travel between Japan and Western Australia and further solidifies Perth's reputation as Australia's Western Gateway, strengthening our aviation sector.
"Aviation is a key priority in my Government's bid to diversify the economy. This uplift in daily services will create lasting benefits and opportunities for our tourism and trade industries ultimately growing Western Australia's visitor economy and supporting local jobs."
