Degree Apprentices at Sellafield Ltd Complete Induction

The new cohort of Cumbria based degree apprentices celebrated completing their 3-month induction as they move to the next phase in their training programmes.

Forty-five students completed the 'bridging course' with GEN2 training provider at Energus in West Cumbria, that consisted of introductions to electrical, mechanical, nuclear and maths modules.

They will now undertake their degree apprentice programmes in a wide range of disciplines, including:

  • technical
  • civil
  • control systems
  • operations
  • mechanical and electrical design
  • quality
  • engineering and maintenance
  • scientific

This will include being placed on site, or training at Energus to complete a performing engineering operations qualification before joining their pathway at Sellafield.

The 'bridging' course helps to prepare the students for the degree apprentice programme, providing them with suitable preparations for the foundation degree.

Alongside the degree, the students also complete a Level 5 Nuclear Technician Apprenticeship. This is an exciting time for our students.
