Almost $12 million has been allocated to Division 2 in the Sunshine Coast Council 2020/21 budget handed down today to support our community.
Divisional councillor Terry Landsberg said the budget was a great outcome for the people in Division 2.
"I am really happy that we will be able to do so much for the residents in Division 2, from upgrades to the Caloundra Aquatic Centre and Kings Beach Pool to mountain biking facilities, reserve trails and coastal pathways as well as playground improvements," Cr Landsberg said.
"We will also be contributing to the Regional Tennis Centre and ensuring we keep our iconic lighthouse through rehabilitation works, as well as improving footpaths, roads, fish cleaning stations, barbecues and picnic tables across the division.
"The Caloundra Centre Activation Project is one of the most important projects for our division, and we will progress this planning to work towards bringing the Caloundra Centre Master Plan to life.
"It will encourage new investment in the central business district of Caloundra – the Sunshine Coast's City of Beaches.
"I look forward to taking a stroll around the memorial deck and interpretation signage in honour of the SS Dicky Wreck and seeing our local skateboarders enjoy the finishing touches that will be added to the skate park at Dicky Beach.
"The Caloundra Indoor Stadium is one of the busiest sporting facilities in our Division. It will be wonderful to have the access upgraded to better accommodate people with disabilities as well as improvements to attract more high-profile teams to our region.
"The Caloundra Headland and Dicky Beach coastal pathways are also significant investments for our community and are a great place for residents and visitors to enjoy our world-class views and natural attractions."
