Driver detected at 210km/h on M4 - Eastern Creek

A man has been charged - and his number plates confiscated for three months - after he was detected allegedly driving at more than 100km/h above the speed limit in Sydney's west this morning.

Officers attached to Mt Druitt Highway Patrol were conducting speed enforcement duties on the M4 at Eastern Creek about 1.45am (Saturday 23 April 2022), when they saw a vehicle travelling west at high speed.

Police recorded a speed of 210km/h in the signposted 100km/h zone and directed the driver to stop.

A 22-year-old man from Marayong has now been issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice (FCAN) for the offences of drive at a speed dangerous, and exceed speed limit – more than 45km/h.

He is due to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court on Wednesday 25 May 2022.

His licence and number plates were confiscated on the spot.

Police continue to patrol metropolitan and regional areas, targeting high-risk behaviours, including drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving.

During double demerit periods, points apply for offences such as speeding, illegal use of mobile phones, not wearing a seat belt and riding without a motorcycle helmet.

For this year's ANZAC Day Traffic Operation, double demerits are now in force and will continue until 11:59pm on Monday 25 April 2022.
