Drug Ring Busted After Yearlong Probe

Crime Gangs Task Force detectives have dismantled a drug trafficking syndicate following the arrest of four men this week.

Following a 12‑month investigation, detectives arrested four men during a two‑day operation on Thursday 7 May and Friday 8 May.

The men have been charged with a range of alleged offences including trafficking in a commercial quantity of a controlled drug, trafficking controlled drugs, possession of a trafficable quantity of a controlled drug, money laundering and firearms‑related offences.

As a result of the investigation, police seized 1.8 kilograms of cocaine, a firearm, illegal tobacco, illegal vapes and five motor vehicles. Confiscation proceedings have commenced in relation to the vehicles, including a Mercedes‑Benz valued at approximately $110,000. Detectives also seized over $30,000 in cash and an amount of cryptocurrency.

A 30‑year‑old man from Brighton and two 20‑year‑old men from Glenelg North were refused police bail and will appear in court today, Friday 8 May.

The fourth man, a 26‑year‑old from Reynella, was granted police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 25 June.

Detective Superintendent Campbell Hill, Officer in Charge of the Serious and Organised Crime Branch, said the investigation reinforced SAPOL's commitment to targeting organised criminal activity that causes harm to the South Australian community.

"People who engage in the trafficking of illicit drugs cause direct harm to individuals, families, communities and businesses," Det Supt Hill said.

"South Australia Police remain committed to identifying and disrupting the activities of those who seek to profit while knowingly causing harm in our community."
