Elements of Change: Art Show Explores Enviro Issues

Toowoomba City Hall

Elements of Change, an exhibition by members of the Artists of Crows Nest is on display at Crows Nest Gallery from 8 March, 2023 until 2 April, 2023.

The exhibition focuses on the changing world through the elements of Earth, Wind, Fire and Water.

President of Artists of Crows Nest Jane Hoffman said the exhibition was a wonderful showcase of the groups' work.

"In recent history our region has experienced droughts, bushfires and floods of increased magnitude.

"As artists, we have been directly affected by visual and emotive communication through the news media. Of even greater impact has been the experiences we have lived through in confronting changes in nature observed in our local area," Ms Hoffman said.

Members of Artists of Crows Nest began workshopping the exhibition concept in 2022.

"The group plays a vital role in the community providing opportunities for members to enhance their art and contribute to the culture of Crows Nest," Ms Hoffman said.

Using their preferred mediums and techniques participating artists worked to visualise their interpretation of environmental change.

Participating artists have used a variety of mediums, including acrylic, oil, watercolour, ink, mixed media, pastel and textiles to produce a cohesive body of work.

Interpreting environmental change, some artists drew upon realism, symbolism and abstraction.

Participating artists include - Kay Germain, Sue Nelson, Julie Sweeney, Rosalie Eustace, Carol Chay, Stacey Blinco, Robyn Drury, Beronica Murray, Pam Shipman, Kathy Brownsden, Jane Hoffman, Robyn Henderson, Jane Arthars, Linda Hoad and Megan Weegink.

The exhibition's Artist Talk will take place on Sunday 12 March at 11am. This is a free event and no bookings are required.
