Energy Minister heading to Singapore to promote WA successes

  • Minister Johnston to speak at Singapore International Energy Week to promote Western Australia's initiatives and success towards decarbonisation
  • The Minister will also focus on engaging with key decarbonisation stakeholders
  • 4,000 international energy professionals and policymakers expected to attend 
  • Energy Minister Bill Johnston will travel to Singapore today to speak at the 15th Singapore International Energy Week (SIEW). 

    Mr Johnston will promote Western Australia's initiatives and success towards the decarbonisation of the State's economy, and will participate in a panel on 'Accelerating Low Carbon Solutions' on Tuesday 25 October, 2022.

    He will also meet with the Singapore Trade and Industry Minister and other key decarbonisation stakeholders to discuss investment opportunities and why WA is an attractive business destination.   

    As stated by Energy Minister Bill Johnston:

    "Western Australia offers exciting investment and trade opportunities, with a safe and secure environment to do business, along with world-leading innovation across a range of thriving industries.

    "Our State has a significant role to play in supporting the global transition to net zero with an abundance of natural resources, including battery and critical minerals.

    "We're also well-placed to become a producer and exporter of green hydrogen.

    "In less than a decade, Western Australia has successfully established a multi-billion dollar critical minerals processing industry, driven by projects that will produce clean energy technologies, including rechargeable batteries, electric vehicles and wind turbines."
