Reliable, disaggregated data are essential for tracking progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supporting evidence-based policymaking. However, many Arab countries continue to face gaps in the availability and comparability of SDG data.
To address these challenges, ESCWA, in collaboration with the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS) and other UN agencies, organized a regional workshop in Amman, Jordan, from 29 June to 1 July on enhancing reporting on SDG indicators and disaggregated data adhering to international recommendations and standards.
The workshop brought together experts from national statistical offices and relevant stakeholders from across the Arab region. Discussions focused on improving the availability, quality, comparability, and policy relevance of data disaggregated by sex, age, disability status, geographic location, and other characteristics to support more inclusive and evidence-based policymaking.
